Nut up or shut up.
Zombieland may have shocked you in a form you are not used to. No, not the gore, the well placed typography, or horrific clown, no no.
Did you feel that? Yes, that’s called humor. A terrific form I might add.
Zombieland may not be the film you wanted, but its what you needed. The beauty of this post zombie virus outbreak in my opinion, is Bill FUCKING Murray!
Ha, true it is probably the best cameo of the decade, but no, the joke to joke humor between characters, clever narration, light-hearted depiction(twinkies), and hilarious zombie strategy throughout the film makes it a winner.
The cast is perfectly fitted, with a harsh as always Woody Harrleson, and a nerdy yet intriguing twenty-something Jesse Eisenberg. The men bond throughout the film as usual, but, Zombieland also throws in a nice duo of a cold-hearted Emma Stone, and gritty but cute Oscar nominated Abigail Breslin for you to worry about.
Overall this movie is brilliantly directed by Ruben Fleischer, who also directs Fantasy Factory and some Jimmy Kimmel episodes. Zombie attacks and personality has been dumb and somewhat boring as of late, but the humorous aspect of how zombies are killed in this film had me rolling.
So go ahead, spend however much it is to see this movie, and be happy you’re not being eaten alive. I should probably begin with cardio.
Some nice facts:
- Zombieland opened bigger than any Resident Evil flick, and bigger, actually, than any zombie movie ever, save the 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake, per Box Office Mojo stats.
- Zombies still have a long way to go before they catch vampires. Five vampire flicks have opened bigger than the biggest zombie flick, including the reigning bloodsucking champ, Twilight.
